摘要: Within the framework of nonlinear electroelasticity, the anti-plane problem of a circular-arc interfacial crack between a circular piezoelectric inhomogeneity and an infinite piezoelectric matrix subjected to a far-field uniform loading is investigated by an electrical strip saturation model, the complex variable method, and the method of analytical continuation. Explicit closed form expressions for the complex potentials in both the matrix and the inclusion, and the stress intensity factor at the crack tip are presented. Comparison with some related solutions based on the linear electroelastic theory shows the validity of the present solutions

摘要: The analysis of the bearing capacity of strip footings sited near an excavation is critical in geotechnics. In this study, the effects of the geometrical features of the excavation and the soil strength properties on the seismic bearing capacity of a strip footing resting on an excavation were evaluated using the lower and upper bounds of the finite element limit analysis method. The effects of the setback distance ratio (L/B), excavation height ratio (H/B), soil strength heterogeneity (kB/cu), and horizontal earthquake coefficient (kh) were analyzed. Design charts and tables were produced to clarify the relationship between the undrained seismic bearing capacity and the selected parameters.

Ribbed strip rolling by three-dimensional finite element method combining extremely thin array of elements

摘要: In this paper, a three-dimensional finite element modelling of the ribbed strip rolling is carried out, coupling the use of an extremely thin array of elements that is equivalent to the calculation of the additional shear deformation work rate occurred by the velocity discontinuity in the roll bite. The formulation of the finite element modelling by adding a rib inclined contact surface boundary condition is derived, and the performance of the proposed method is conducted. The simulated rib height, forward slip, and the pulling down of rib height have been compared with the measured values and are in good agreement. The equivalent strain rate of the rib was obtained in the simulation. The effect of the rib inclined angle on pulling down of rib height has also been discussed, which is helpful in optimizing the design of the rib inclined angle.

Experimental investigation on heat transfer effect of conical strip inserts in a circular tube under

摘要: The aim of this paper is to observe the Nusselt number and friction factor behavior of the circular tube with conical strip inserts as turbulators in a laminar flow condition, using staggered and non-staggered conical strips with three different twist ratios ( = 2, 3 and 5). The conical strip is inserted in the forward and backward direction individually compared to the flow of water which is the working fluid. The results indicate that the conical strip inserts increases the Nusselt number when compared to the plain surface tube. It is observed that the strip geometry has a major effect on the thermal performance of the circular tube. On examination of different strips for determining the enhancement of Nusselt number, the staggered conical strip with the twist ratio of = 3 has given a better result compared to the other two strips. Finally, correlations have been derived using regression analysis for predicting the Nusselt number and friction factor.

Ultimate bearing capacity of strip footing resting on clay soil mixed with tire-derived aggregates

摘要: This study investigated the use of recycled tire-derived aggregate (TDA) mixed with kaolin as a method of increasing the ultimate bearing capacity ( UBC) of a strip footing. Thirteen 1g physical modeling tests were prepared in a rigid box of 0.6 m × 0.9 m in plan and 0.6 m in height. During sample preparation, 0%, 20%, 40%, or 60% (by weight) of powdery, shredded, small-sized granular (G 1–4 mm) or large-sized granular (G 5–8 mm) TDA was mixed with the kaolin. A strip footing was then placed on the stabilized kaolin and was caused to fail under stress-controlled conditions to determine the UBC. A rigorous 3D finite element analysis was developed in Optum G-3 to determine the UBC values based on the experimental test results. The experimental results showed that, except for the 20% powdery TDA, the TDA showed an increase in the UBC of the strip footing. When kaolin mixed with 20% G (5–8 mm), the UBC showed a threefold increase over that for the unreinforced case. The test with 20% G (1–4 mm) recorded the highest subgrade modulus. It was observed that the UBC calculated using finite element modeling overestimated the experimental UBC by an average of 9%.

Effect of interface adhesion factor on the bearing capacity of strip footing placed on cohesive soil

摘要: The problem related to bearing capacity of footing either on pure soil or on pure rock mass has been investigated over the years. Currently, no study deals with the bearing capacity of strip footing on a cohesive soil layer overlying rock mass. Therefore, by implementing the lower bound finite element limit analysis in conjunction with the second-order cone programming and the power cone programming, the ultimate bearing capacity of a strip footing located on a cohesive soil overlying rock mass is determined in this study. By considering the different values of interface adhesion factor (αcr) between the cohesive soil and rock mass, the ultimate bearing capacity of strip footing is expressed in terms of influence factor (If) for different values of cohesive soil layer cover ratio (Tcs/B). The failure of cohesive soil is modeled by using Mohr−Coulomb yield criterion, whereas Generalized Hoek−Brown yield criterion is utilized to model the rock mass at failure. The variations ofIf with different magnitudes of αcr are studied by considering the influence of the rock mass strength parameters of beneath rock mass layer. To examine stress distribution at different depths, failure patterns are also plotted.

Continuous modeling of soil morphology —thermomechanical behavior of embankment dams

摘要: Macroscopic modeling of soils is based on a number of properties that refer to the mesoscopic morphology. The most fundamental parameters of this art are: 1) coupling parameters between partial stresses of components and deformations of components, 2) porosities, 3) saturation, and 4) permeability and diffusivity, tortuosity. The main aim of this paper is to present in juxtaposition continuous one-, two-, and three-component models of geomaterials appearing in construction of embankment dams. In particular, the above mentioned features, especially saturation with water and seepage problems, modeling of fluidization yielding piping, and generalizations of the Darcy law and changes of porosity, are presented.

Experimental determination of Cd

摘要: Carbonate shells have an astonishing ability in the removal of Cd in a short time period with emphasis on being a low cost adsorbent. In the present study, the sorption capacity of carbonate shells was studied for Cd in batch experiments. The influence of different carbonate shell sizes and physico-chemical factors were evaluated and the results were analyzed for its correlation matrices by using Predictive Analytics Software (PASW). The mineralogy state of aqueous solution regarding the saturation index was simulated using PHREEQC to identify the Cd uptake mechanism. The Cd uptake rates were calculated as well as Ca , concentration, pH, ambient humidity and temperature were measured. Cd removal of 91.52% was achieved after 5 h adsorption. The adsorption efficiencies were significantly influenced by pH as they increased with the increase of pH from acidic solution (5.50±0.02) to slightly alkaline (7.60±0.05). In addition, the mineralogy state of aqueous solution calculated from PHREEQC confirmed that the increment of Ca and concentrations in solution was attributed to the dissolution of carbonate shells. Moreover, the ion exchange adsorption mechanism of Cd toward Ca was identified as the process involved in Cd uptake.

Linear and nonlinear elastic analysis of closely spaced strip foundations using Pasternak model

摘要: In this study, an attempt is made to determine the interaction effect of two closely spaced strip footings using Pasternak model. The study considers small strain problem and has been performed using linear as well as nonlinear elastic analysis to determine the interaction effect of two nearby strip footings. The hyperbolic stress-strain relationship has been considered for the nonlinear elastic analysis. The linear elastic analysis has been carried out by deriving the equations for the interference effect of the footings in the framework of Pasternak model equation; whereas, the nonlinear elastic analysis has been performed using the finite difference method to solve the second order nonlinear differential equation evolved from Pasternak model with proper boundary conditions. Results obtained from the linear and the nonlinear elastic analysis are presented in terms of non-dimensional interaction factors by varying different parameters like width of the foundation, load on the foundation and the depth of the rigid base. Results are suitably compared with the existing values in the literature.

摘要: 本文针对输入饱和下的多智能体系统,提出一种最优一致性控制方法。引入多智能体博弈理论,将最优一致性控制问题转化为多智能体非零和博弈。之后,通过求解具有非二次输入能量项的耦合Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman(HJB)方程,实现Nash平衡。提出脱策强化学习方法,在系统模型未知情况下获得Nash平衡解;引入评判神经网络和执行神经网络实现所提方法。理论分析显示迭代控制律收敛到Nash平衡。仿真实验验证了所提方法的有效性。

Controlling nested wrinkle morphology through the boundary effect on narrow-band thin films

摘要: We describe the formation of nested wrinkles created by the thermal mismatch between a narrow-band thin film and a compliant substrate. When a film is described as “narrow-band”, it literally means that the film band width is much shorter than its length; more precisely, it means that the width is comparable with the wavelength of the wrinkles. A silicon mask was used during film sputtering to create narrow-band films on poly (dimethylsiloxane) substrate, thus creating regular boundaries to steer local stresses and control wrinkle morphology. Disordered nano-scale wrinkles were found nested within highly ordered micro-scale sinusoidal wrinkles. The formation of nested wrinkles was explained through the amplitude and wavelength saturation of nano-scale wrinkles. The disordered morphology of nano-scale wrinkles and the highly ordered morphology of micro-scale wrinkles were explained by using the boundary effect.

New insights in the battle between wheat and

摘要: Wheat stripe rust caused by f. sp. ( ) poses a great threat to wheat production worldwide. The rapid change in virulence of leads to a loss of resistance in currently resistant wheat cultivars, which results in frequent disease epidemics. Therefore, a major focus is currently placed on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying this rapid variation of pathogenicity and coevolving wheat resistance. Limited by the lack of a system for stable transformation of and the difficulties in wheat transformation, it is not easy to generate deeper insights into the wheat- interaction using established genetic methods. Nevertheless, considerable effort has been made to unravel the wheat- interaction and significant progress is being made. Histology and cytology have revealed basic details of infection strategies and defense responses during wheat- interactions, identified cellular components involved in wheat- interactions, and have helped to elucidate their role in the infection process or in plant defense responses. Transcriptome and genome sequencing has revealed the molecular features and dynamics of the wheat- pathosystem. Extensive molecular analyses have led to the identification of major components in the wheat resistance response and in virulence. Studies of wheat- interactions have now entered a new phase in which cellular and molecular approaches are being used. This review focuses on the cellular biology of wheat- interactions and integrates the emerging data from molecular analyses with the histocytological observations.
